Drop top Camaro to hit showrooms this month

camaro_ss.jpgThe 2011 Camaro Convertible is scheduled to arrive in showrooms across the Middle East region this month. “The introduction of the Convertible will further strengthen Camaro’s dominant position in the sports segment,” said Luay Alshurafa, Chevrolet Regional Brand Manager at General Motors Middle East Operations. “The new Convertible will attract new customers looking for top-down driving fun and precise engineering.” The convertible is equipped with similar model configurations as the Camaro Coupe. The standard model has a fuel efficient 312hp direct injection V6 engine delivering 8-litre per 100km highway while the SS model features the 6.2-litre V8 engine producing 426hp.

Meanwhile, Chevrolet and Yas Marina Circuit have signed an agreement marking Chevrolet Camaro as the official vehicle of the Yas Drag Racing Academy.The academy has received six Camaro SS that will form the basis of the training programme for aspiring drag racers across the region. All Camaros given to the Drag Racing Academy are equipped with a 6.2L V8 SFI engine with six-speed automatic transmission. The cars will be used to train upcoming drag race future champions before they are able to drive 1,200hp Super Comp dragsters.
