 Mercedes GP RB1 The 2010 Formula 1™ Gulf Air Bahrain Grand prix sees the return of the biggest name in the sport for the past 15 years: Michael Schumacher. Nobody in the 60-year history of the world’s biggest annual sporting series has more records, more victories, more championships, more points, more pole positions, more fastest laps, more fans or more detractors.
Having stepped wearily from the cockpit of his Ferrari at the end of yet another mesmerizing performance in the 2006 Brazilian Grand Prix, few in the sport thought that they would ever see the return of the seven-time world champion. The absolute dominance of the ‘Ferrari era’ that Schumacher had led from 2000-2004 had been ended by a new generation of talent, and it seemed that the story had come to an end.

Michael Macht, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, presented the Porsche 918 Spyder concept car at its world debut on the evening of the 1st of March in Geneva. This mid-engined two-seater combines the performance of a super-sports car with the CO2 emissions of a small compact, an innovative plug-in hybrid concept reducing emissions to just 70 grams CO2 per kilometre and fuel consumption to 3.0 litres/100 kilometres (94 mpg imp). Within this concept Porsche combines a V8 power unit delivering more than 500 hp and three electric motors with overall output of 160 kW. In its design and interior architecture, the Porsche 918 Spyder combines classic elements with appropriate solutions for the future. Starting on Tuesday, March 2nd, at 8:15 am (CET), the Porsche 918 Spyder will also be presented at the Porsche Stand in Hall 6 of the Palexpo Building during the Geneva Motor Show.

 Alonso with the Ferrari F10 All eyes were on Maranello as Scuderia Ferrari launched its 56th single-seater racing car, primed for the Formula One circuits of the 2010 World Championship.
The new racing car, which Ferrari has named the F10, will compete in a season with one of the most talked about rule changes seen in Formula One for years, the ban on refuelling during a race.
Development for the Ferrari F10 started mid-season 2009 to ensure maximum competitiveness for the coming season. Ferrari is optimistic about the 2010 season, with a new driver line up and two extra races on the calendar. |
 Bob Lutz, set to retire on May 1st 2010 General Motors Vice Chairman Robert A. Lutz will retire effective May 1, 2010, capping a 47-year career in the global auto industry that included senior leadership positions at four of the world’s leading automakers.
Lutz, 78, rejoined GM September 1, 2001, as the head of product development, and has led the company’s resurgence in developing great cars and trucks. He also worked at BMW, Chrysler and Ford.

 MINi brings Hollywood to Geneva The launch of the new star of the MINI family – the MINI Countryman – at the 80th Salon International de l’Auto provides reason enough for an unconventional marketing campaign: The city built on Lake Geneva is being renamed “MINIWOOD” by way of a huge projected image, creating a rival to the Hollywood dream factory in Los Angeles.
